Dr Leon Whitlock qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Pretoria in 2001. Following the completion of his internship and community service, Dr. Whitlock moved to the U.K in 2004 to practice Emergency medicine. He started doing sedation in and around London in both private practice and NHS clinics, seeing up to 40 patients a day in some clinics, building up a wealth of experience in pediatric and adult sedation, mostly in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. He completed a diploma in sedation and pain control in 2008 under guidance of Professor James Roelofse, the father of sedation in South Africa.
After moving back to South Africa in 2008, he started a sedation practice in Pretoria/Johannesburg, quickly establishing a reputation as one of the go-to guys for pediatric sedation, even in very young and very anxious patients. He also worked extensively with Maxillofacial Surgeons, sedating patients for various procedures previously thought to be impossible outside of theater under general anaesthesia. He also does sedation for dermatology and oncology.
Dr Whitlock is an active member of SOSPOSA, the Society of Sedation Practitioners of South Africa.
Dr Peter Kanellos qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Pretoria 2001. He completed his diploma in anaesthesia in 2004 through the Colleges of Medicine (SA). Under the tutorship of Prof James Roelofse completed his sedation training in 2013.
Currently providing general anaesthesia and mobile sedation services for a wide spectrum of medical procedures.
Dr Kanellos currently serves on the executive committee of the Society of Sedation Practitioners of South Africa.
